The UAAUK AGM 2026 was held on 21 March 2026 at All Saints’ Church, Four Oaks, Sutton Coldfield, chaired by Dr Gaurav Goswami. The meeting reviewed a successful Silver Jubilee year, including Assam Day 2025, while noting some issues around food, room sizes, registration delays, and programme gaps.
Key updates included:
Treasurer change: Dr Himanshu Sekhar stepped down as Treasurer; Dr Bedangshu Saikia was ratified as the new Treasurer.
Membership: Paid membership has declined slightly, and a membership drive was recommended.
Charity application: The association is progressing toward becoming a Charitable Incorporated Organisation (CIO), with updated objectives focused on Assamese culture, education, heritage, and social inclusion.
Assam Day 2026: Planned for Eastwood Hall, Nottingham. The group may avoid inviting an overseas artist due to high travel costs.
Future Assam Day format: Members discussed whether it should remain a two-day event or move to one day, but agreed this needs wider member consultation.
Website: Members agreed urgent action is needed to update the website.
